This Mother's Day... "To those who gave birth this year to their first child - we celebrate with you. To those who lost a child this year - we mourn with you. To those who are in the trenches with little ones every day and wear the badge of food stains - we appreciate you. To those who experienced loss through miscarriage, failed adoptions, or running away - we mourn with you. To those who walk the hard path of infertility, fraught with pokes, prods, tears, and disappointment - we walk with you. Forgive us when we say foolish things. We don’t mean to make this harder than it is. To those who are foster moms, mentor moms, and spiritual moms - we need you. To those who have warm and close relationships with your children - we celebrate with you. To those who have disappointment, heart ache, and distance with your children - we sit with you. To those who lost their mothers this year - we grieve with you. To those who experienced abuse at the hands of your own mother - we acknowledge your experience. To those who lived through driving tests, medical tests, and the overall testing of motherhood - we are better for having you in our midst. To those who are single and long to be married and mothering your own children - we mourn that life has not turned out the way you longed for it to be. To those who step-parent - we walk with you on these complex paths. To those who envisioned lavishing love on grandchildren, yet that dream is not to be - we grieve with you. To those who will have emptier nests in the upcoming year - we grieve and rejoice with you. To those who placed children up for adoption - we commend you for your selflessness and remember how you hold that child in your heart. And to those who are pregnant with new life, both expected and surprising - we anticipate with you. This Mother’s Day, we walk with you. Mothering is not for the faint of heart and we have real warriors in our midst. We remember you." - Author Amy Young

Here we highlight just one of the organizations we're partnering with for our first ever All-Church Serve Day, Sunday May 5! --------------- Who are they? Summerplace Townhomes provides low-income housing and is an official resettlement site for refugees from all over the world. Trinity has a longstanding relationship with Summerplace and its residents. What will I do? • Build soccer goals from a kit • Host a Block Party! Is this OK for kids? YES! This opportunity is age-appropriate for children infant+! How do I get there? Show up at Trinity for breakfast at 8:30am and a short worship gathering at 9:30am. Here are the details once last time: ☕️ 8:30am breakfast 🎶 9:30am short worship gathering 🚌 10:00-11:00am deployment instructions & board the buses 💪11:00am-1:00pm serve Oh, and NO Saturday gathering tonight! If you're planning on getting dirty, make sure to wear clothes you don't mind messing up. We need EVERYONE to show up and show out for this incredible day of loving our Lansing neighbors. We can't wait to be the hands and feet of Jesus while meeting practical needs together!

With so many I Love My City opportunities to choose from, where will you serve? Here we highlight just one of the organizations we're partnering with for our first ever All-Church Serve Day, Sunday May 5! --------------- Who are they? Gardner is the new magnet school for International families in the Lansing School District, with many students who came to the US as refugees. They represent over 30 nations and 50 languages. Trinity has been heavily involved at Gardner and loves the opportunity to welcome the stranger and show Jesus’ love to our neighbors. What will I do? • Paint two cafeterias • Replace the carpeting on cafeteria steps • Spruce up the entrance outdoors: mulch, trim bushes, sweep and rake • Plant flowering plants in large pots • Build "buddy benches" and garden "delta beds" (three-sided beds, wood framed) to be ready for flowers later Is this OK for kids? YES! This opportunity is age-appropriate for children 5+! How do I get there? Show up at Trinity for breakfast at 8:30am and a short worship gathering at 9:30am. Then head to BUSES 1, 2 or 3 to be transported to the serve location. Can I drive myself? You absolutely can! Gardner is located at 333 Dahlia Dr, Lansing. Trinity chose Aria because it was the most under-resourced facility in south Lansing and contained more Medicaid beds than any other. What will I do? • Visit patients and residents Is this OK for kids? YES! This opportunity is age-appropriate for infants+! How do I get there? Show up at Trinity for breakfast at 8:30am and a short worship gathering at 9:30am. Then head to BUS 9 to be transported to the serve location. Can I drive myself? You absolutely can! Aria Nursing and Rehab is located at 707 Armstrong Rd, Lansing. For 70 years, STVCC has been a pillar in providing human services in Michigan. What once started as a temporary home for children has grown into much more. STVCC continues to meet the ever-changing needs of the community through their programs and services including foster care and adoption, refugee resettlement and services, immigration legal services, mental health counseling, and our Children’s Home. What will I do? • Paint a shed • Detail St. Vincent vehicles • Make welcome bags for residents of the Children's Home Is this OK for kids? YES! This opportunity is age-appropriate for children 10+! How do I get there? Show up at Trinity for breakfast at 8:30am and a short worship gathering at 9:30am. Then head to BUS 18 to be transported to the serve location. Can I drive myself?
